It was the first day of the year 2015 and two roommates, that had been friends since they were in diapers, were having a pity party. They were sitting in their pjs, eating Chinese take out, watching Netflix and complaining about where their lives were and how they wanted to do so much more. They finished their sweet and sour chicken and grabbed their fortune cookies. They decided whatever these fortunes read... it would be important:
"Be careful! Straight trees often have crooked roots."
There were many discussions as to the specific meaning of the fortune and it eventually was taped to the wall as something to be pondered.
It took a few more months of pity parties and deep discussions, but eventually the two friends knew what they needed to do to pull themselves out of their rut. They decided to go out on a limb, move back to their roots and start a business doing what they love. Of all the challenges they faced... naming the business was the easiest of all.

I enjoy the challenge of getting to know each client, each bride and designing something completely distinct for them. When I’m not arranging flowers, I am most likely saving an animal on the side of the road. My idea of a good time is doing a floral puzzle with a lovely audiobook going in the background. My go to meal is pasta. Any. Kind. Of. Pasta.

As a lizard in a plant shop, I can tell you that Crooked Roots carries the most delicious pothos and scheffleras you have ever tasted. I take my job as Shop Mascot very seriously and will happily greet every child that walks in. When I’m not on the job, you can find me basking in my heat lamp and taking warm showers from my mister. My favorite food is a juicy cricket…. Or five.
In Loving Memory: Ivy
2009 - 12/18/2025
Ivy was our beloved shop cat and resident supervisor. She spent her days greeting visitors, napping in sunbeams, and making sure the shop ran exactly the way she liked. Ivy passed away in December, but she will always be part of the Crooked Roots family. Every day someone asks about Ivy, a small but constant reminder of how loved she was. Ivy now rests in her favorite sunny window, curled up on the pillow she loved, still keeping gentle watch over the shop.
